The Islesford Historical Society is proud to be a member of the History Trust, a consortium of twelve nonprofits located around Frenchman and Blue Hill bays dedicated to preserving and sharing the region's unique history. Our trustees and members volunteer their time and share their knowledge to preserve our island history.
The Islesford Historical Society was founded in 1990 by Hugh "Buddy" Dwelley. The IHS room was added on to the Neighborhood House Library in 1998.
The purpose of the Islesford Historical Society is the collection, preservation, presentation and study of the history of the village of Islesford on Little Cranberry Island, Maine and of the other Cranberry Isles and the surrounding area.
